BRIEF REPORTS AND COMMENTS FROM MCGN GLOBAL POINTS
CANADA:
Stuart Spani (MCGN Co-Ordinator for Canada) has completed the Mizo version of "God's Chosen Jewel". The Mizo script was recorded by Liana and Ngeni Mualchin during their visit to Vancouver, Canada.
Galcom International, a Christian organization in Canada, is making a radio station with a transmitter available to MCGN at a minimal cost. MCGN has to obtain a license and provide Galcom with a basic data on the station site and desired range of broadcasting. This has been discussed with the Speaker of Mizoram, and the MCGN leadership in Mizoram has been informed so that appropriate actions can be taken.
Stuart (with Liana) is organizing a tour for 12 Canadians to Mizoram and some parts of India in early Feb. 2000 .
NEPAL:
Mizo Missionaries in Nepal have sent encouraging news that there has been no anti-Christians activity lately. Please note the burning of churches in our previous newsletter.
USA:
World Vision has informed Stuart about a donated 1-MW Hydro-power plant hardware. Stuart requested them to consider Mizoram as a recipient of the gift through MCGN. Liana Mualchin met with Ray Schutte (World Vision) and the donor, Bob Perry (a retired Christian businessman). MCGN is exploring ways to accept the gift.
Lalchungnunga (Chungtea), an engineer from Mizoram Power Dept. on a study leave in California, has contributed valuable information for this project.
Liana also co-directed a plan for the Fielding Institute Action Research Group proposed trip to Mizoram, tentatively planned to take place in March, 2000.
Rick Maxfield (Overseas Crusades) might possibly form a working partnership with MCGN.
Rev. B.D. Immanuel (Founder of KCN, Bangalore) was met by Mr. & Mrs. Mualchin in Alameda, California. He has all the praises and good things to say about the Mizo goverment officers working in Bangalore.
R. Lalawia (Speaker of Mizoram Legislative Assembly) and his wife, Rozami have visited the Mualchin family. The speaker was met by the Fielding Institute, local business consultants, and members & friends of MCGN. Also, Stuart Spani talked to him by phone from Canada. The Speaker has warmly welcomed those planning to visit Mizoram.
It is encouraging to know that Speaker Lalawia had introduced voluntary prayers before the Mizoram Legislative Assembly meetings. He has a strong conviction of serving the people. He also said that the priority of Mizoram government is marketing of Mizoram agriculture products.
