Merry Christmas!

Newsletter: December 1999

MCGN is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian organization to promote spiritual and economic development of the people in Mizoram and the surrounding region by serving them as Jesus did (Mt. 20:28).

Dear friends in the MCGN:

Praise The Lord for all His goodness throughout the year. As we come to the end of the millenium and about to enter a new millenium, the world around us is in fear of catastrophic events because of the Y2K potential problems. Many religious people are saying this is the end of the sixth sabbatical millenium and that the next will be God's millennial Sabbath - a thousand years' reign with Jesus. There is also a general impression that we are entering a significant period. People are very much concerned about a worldwide run on banks, food and water, creating shortages. There is also the fear of power outages, riots and a stock market crash.

If all these things really do take place, what shall we do? The Bible says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Phil. 4:6,7).

No human being knows the future and what is coming. The world at best is in constant uncertainty. But still God is in control. "He rules over the nations," the Psalmist says. Paul, an outstandingly inspired writer and preacher says, "All things work together for good to those who love God, those who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28.)

The Mizo Christian Global Network believes they are called according to God's purpose. Let all the events come, it is for our good. If they do not come, still it is for our good. "Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God…," says Christ. What a temptation it is to have a troubled mind! "Be still and know that I am God," says the Lord who was and is and is to come! With Him, there is no shadow of turning away. With Him is our salvation, with Him is our eternity. With Him there is no fear whatever the future holds. With Him "There will be no more death, nor sorrows, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." (Rev. 21:4). "Yet a little while is the light with you, walk while you have the light; lest darkness comes upon you…that you may be the children of God." (John 12:35, 36.)

The MCGN believes that we are on the verge of eternity. We do not say Christ will come now or tomorrow. But we have a deep concern for the ministry Jesus Christ has left on our shoulders. Christ has already borne our sins and iniquities, and with His stripes we are healed. So we believe we also have to take up our cross that others might live. Nobel prize winner, Mother Teresa, was interviewed by a reporter. "Mother Teresa, how can you work for these diseased and dirty people of the slum areas of Calcutta?" he asked. Mother Teresa answered, "Oh, I see Jesus in the poor!" and she acknowledged that all her great success is of the Lord. MCGN also knows that the greatest joy and happiness comes from doing good to others.

May the good Lord be with all members and friends so that the new millenium, with whatever it holds, will be a great blessing to you.

Sincerely yours,
Pastor V. Rualchhina,
Spiritual Advisor of MCGN

Greetings in the Mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whose earthly birth we celebrate this month with joy unspeakable and full of glory. God's angels sang out the glad tidings of Messiah's arrival to the amazed shepherds on that starry night over two thousand years ago. And as Christians, we can sing out the everlasting gospel to an indifferent world, telling them that that same Jesus lives and loves all of His creation. How precious is the knowledge that the One who "made heaven, and earth and the sea, and the fountains of waters" (Rev. 14:7) is Jesus who we worship as Creator and Savior. May God richly bless each one of you with His Presence as you gather your family around you this Christmas day.

Testimony of Patricia Macys' conversion experience at the age of 50

After years of an angry, frustrating marriage, I wanted only to turn my face to the wall and stay there. One Sunday, during an Oral Roberts' television sermon, I conceded I was going no where without Jesus and accepted Him as my personal savior. I fell to my knees and prayed for His forgiveness and immediately began removing from my life everything that I understood did not glorify God.

My wish for a Bible-believing church was quickly answered, and I thank God for the faithful teaching of a young pastor in a small country church. Forever in my memory will be the moment he said, "Jesus is God". It took my breath away then as it does today, 25 years later. I fell in love with Jesus and even went so far as to write love letters to Him who had totally captured my heart. Later those letters were destroyed without sharing with anyone.

Under Pastor Rob's practical teaching, I learned how the Bible can be applied to daily living, a new concept for me. The changes in my heart and in my thinking can only be described as miracles from God. God's gift of faith is my most precious possession and it never ceases to amaze me that a highly critical person such as I can without hesitation accept every word in the Bible as true and continue year after year to have the same unbounded love for His Word.

The reason for my late arrival at Jesus' banqueting table was that I was a Christian Scientist, almost from birth. My mother and I shared this religion for many years. It was not until after her death that Jesus revealed Himself to me as my personal savior. I am sure that God can reveal His salvation plan to anyone and at any time, but it is difficult for the Christian Scientist because the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy, founder of the Church of Christ, Scientist, seem to spiritualize Jesus away-He becomes just a man, and the Christ-idea is what reigns. In fact, what I learned from Mrs. Eddy writings was so spiritual that it was of no practical use to me.

Marvelous is the working of the Lord. Before my husband Neil died five years ago, he had accepted Jesus as his own personal savior. Hallelujah!
