BRIEF REPORTS FROM GLOBAL POINTS

INDIA: MIZORAM: AIZAWL

Sangtei, daughter of Dr. F. Hrangkhuma, a retired Baptist pastor and now with South Asian Institute of Advanced Christian Studies (SAIACS) in Bangalore, informed us about a functioning Baptist theological college, Academy of Integrated Christian Studies (AICS) at Tanhril, Aizawl. Appreciate any information about the Lord’s ministry.

Our Mizoram coordinator, Dr. P. C. Biaksiama wrote a long note in continuation of a phone conversation with Liana about possible projects for MCGN. We are praying to be connected with churches, institutions, organizations, and individuals for partnership ministry to promote global missions.

MYANMAR (BURMA)

Good to receive emails from Dr. Laithuama. It is not easy to send emails from there since it costs a lot. From phone conversations, we are very encouraged to hear how the Lord is using him. If you remember, they had a very successful conference called “Peace and Reconciliation” last year. They just published their first quarterly magazine called “Hruaitu Arsi” (Guiding Star). May the Lord bless their work and people see transformation and positive changes in the communities.

A special note on printing Burmese Bible: We want to distribute Bibles to jail inmates. Burmese Bibles are not readily available for purchase due to certain restrictions so MCGN is exploring printing a limited number of copies. We will pursue this in our coming trip. Pray that the Lord will connect us with those responsible to grant permision to publish the Burmese Bible.

NEPAL

Lura and Sangtei returned to Nepal from Thailand meeting. The last Discipleship Training in 2003 was successfully done. A fourteen year old girl was healed from paralyzis. Miracles after miracles are happening through their ministry in Nepal.

THAILAND

Dr. Zothansiami is doing all she can for our trip to Thailand and Myanmar. We are very anxious to see her. Pray that visas to visit Myanmar will be granted when we get there.

USA: HEADQUARTERS

Church of the Foothills, Cameron Park, California: Special thanks to Church of the Foothills for giving us much help for our trip. We have told friends about your support and they are very happy for us. This time we will not borrow money for our trip because of support from some friends and the generosity of our Church.

Eugene Friedrich: Gene forwarded thoughtful Christian writings on the web. “The Church does not think like Jesus” reported one survey that shows only 9% of Christians have a biblical worldview (2003 WorldNetDaily.com). Gene also informed us about the ministry of Pastor Chip which included “What the Lord has done through Brother Abraham in India during December 10-29.” Thank you Gene.

Frank Dietz: Frank sent us his weekly Bible teaching notes. The weekly 49 note is based on 1 Samuel 7:3 and it relates to reformation and how it works. Points to remember are: (1) Get rid of your false idols, (2) Commit to the Lord completely, and (3) There is a need for repentance.

Harold Kurtz: We got a long letter from Rev. Harold Kurtz in Portland, Oregon. Recently, he visited Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi in India. There, he met some Mizo friends too. Harold and his wife, Polly will be special guests at the Jubilee celebration of the Manipur Synod from Feb. 7-10. Harold said, “It will be wonderful to see those friends again!” It is always refreshing and encouraging to read how the Lord led this wonderful man of God, a tireless missionary and pastor. We thank God for mission minded friends like him to encourage us.

Steve Rohrer and Family: This missionary family in Japan needs prayer for their family’s health and ministry. Their life and ministry under difficult cirmumstances is truly remarkable. In spite of serious health problems, they are trusting the Lord and standing firm for the Lord’s ministry. Surely, God will pull them through and they will be a blessing to many in Japan.

Jason Brents: He is the missions and youth pastor with First Baptist Church of Pollock Pines, California. We were connected with the work for starting the Perspective Class by US Center for World Mission in our area. We are heartened by his heart-desire for global mission to the Unreached Peoples. He invited Liana to share in his church on Jan. 4, 2004 Sunday morning services.

From Liana & Ngeni Mualchin

We have always wanted to visit Myanmar, Thailand, Nepal, Bangladesh, etc. especially where our people (Mizo) do mission work. We were not able to do so without support. Many times we borrowed money for the ministry and repaid when we can. After 4 years of praying, we have decided, by faith, to go. We are excited because of support from friends and our church (Church of the Foothills). Please pray for our trip. We want to see people coming to the Lord and encourage our Christian friends, especially those serving in difficult and depressive places. Our wish is to visit more places. We hope the Lord will make it happen soon.
