INDIA: MEGHALAYA: SHILLONG
It is good to be
invited by Rev. P.C. Muanthanga to visit their ministry of North East India
Harvest Network. They are interested in networking ministry like MCGN.
INDIA: MIZORAM, AIZAWL
We are glad to receive an email from Bishop Stephen Rotluanga.
Keep praying for him as he has a busy schedule and has to travel to many
places. He always encourages people and is willing to help others. May the Lord
continue to use him.
We are invited to formally open the English Medium School in
Southern Mizoram. Since English is one of the official languages in India and
an international language, it is good to promote English while involved in training young people. Pray that if
this is what the Lord’s plan for us.
M.C. Awia published a collection of Liana’s articles, and through
reading this Mr. Muana wrote to encourage Liana not to give up in helping the
people of Mizoram. We really appreciate it.
We are glad to know that churches in Mizoram had a series of meetings
to find ways to work together. The last meeting was hosted by the Mizoram
Presbyterian Church (MPC). It would be highly desireable if more churches can
get involved.
Information & Publicity of the Mizoram Presbyterian
Church Synod, Aizawl started sending us Synod News. You can see more information
of MPC at their website: www.mizoramsynod.org.
CHURCH UNION MOVEMENT IN NORTHEAST INDIA
The January-March 2003 Presbyterian Review has interesting articles on the history
and progress of Church Union Movement in Northeast India. The church leaders
had their last meeting in January 2003 in Guwahati. They recognized the need to
have discussion for unity extended to grassroot level and work out a model of
unity suitable for Northeast India condition.
The
lack of direct or indirect references to the Bible in these thoughtful papers
is notable. While churches of different denominations are already united in
Jesus Christ, there are variations in cultures and traditions among them. It is
a challenge to bridge the gaps among believers caused by culture and tradition.
We need godly love among us for unity to be realized. Jesus said that we will
be known as His followers by our love for one another, and His prayer is that we
are one as He is with the Father. Thanks to Synod for sharing the news.
JAPAN
The Rohrer family is back in Japan where they have been working as missionaries for years. As we
mentioned before, they came to USA for a short time. We are happy to hear of
their safe return. Thank you for your prayers.
NEPAL
Received emails and newsletters from Mr. Lura and Sangtei, Mizo missionaries in Pokhara, Nepal. One 18 year old girl came to the Lord. She has
been persecuted by her family and they restrained her from attending Sunday
services. Please pray for her. Also, a Hindu lady came to Lura with a prayer
request that her lost husband be found. Her request was answered immediately!
The grateful wife told them to thank God. Pray that this couple will receive
Christ. Through the ministry of Lura and Sangtei so many miracles are
happening. May God continue to be
glorified through their ministry.
THAILAND
We are happy to get an invitation to visit Dr. Zothansiami (Tetei), a missionary in Thailand. We thought of visiting her before and hope that this time the Lord will provide the way. Tetei responded the call to save girls whose parents used to sell their
children for sex. Now, 116 girls are under her ministry and another 277
children are being supported. Many graduated from her minitry establishment. Please
pray that the Lord will continue to bless the ministry.
USA: hEADQUARTERS
Since Liana started teaching
World Mission in our church, the Lord is bringing wonderful, able, and mission-minded
people to the class. It is exciting and we hope to have mission group
activities regularly. We got together in our house to get to know one another.
We were fortunate to have Michael and Sarah Jackson from North East India at
that time. (Liana apologized for mis-naming Sarah in his recent email letter). Michael
is from Oregon state in USA and Sarah is the daughter of Rev. P.C. Muanthanga
from Northeast India. They got married not long ago. They both are involved in
North East India Harvest Ministry with Muanthanga. We are happy to hear their joys
and burdens in their ministry.
Special request for Jail/Prison Ministry by Ngeni
Mualchin
Dear friends,
I always remember your
generosity in helping get 1000 Bibles for the inmates in Mizoram. It was
provided sooner than I expected and I am so thankful. I believe that nothing
less than the Word of God can change people’s lives.
On Sept 29th, I
got a letter from Mizoram, asking me to contribute Bibles for the inmates in
Myanmar (Burma). They call these prisons Jebet Jails. A group of Christians are
trying to reach the people in these jails. These jails are not like normal jails;
the Government of Myanmar puts men in prison and use them as slaves. There is
not enough food or clothing and prisoners have no rest. Some died in prison
because of bad health. When they died a group of Christians buried them. During
that funeral they were allowed to preach and talk about God. Now, the inmates
want to have Bibles but they do not have the funds to provide Bibles.
Therefore, on behalf of this group and the inmates in Myanmar, I am asking you
for help by prayer and financial support. I do not know the price but it should be about the same as a Mizo Bible,
about one dollar or more. If you would like to send support you may send your designate
gift to:
Mizo Christian Global Network, 3400 Angel Lane,
Placerville, CA. 95667, USA.
When I received this letter I
felt like someone was calling me for help like the Apostle Paul receiving a vision-call from Macedonia. Also, thinking
about today’s world, everywhere people cry for many reasons: for food, for
freedom, for justice, for physical healing, for God, etc. The condition in
Myanmar seems to be very bad. I cannot write details of the information. Please
pray about this situation. Thank you.
