INDIA: MANIPUR
Dr. Chong Singsit provided a report on their Vacation Bible School. They distributed 8000 tracts and 27 young people received Christ! In December 2003, a team of five people from USA plan to visit Manipur state. Pray that the Lord will bless their trip.
NEPAL
Lura and Sangtei plan to visit Thailand for a meeting. Pray that Sangtei (Lura’s wife) will be granted a Visa to come to the USA to attend the Advanced Leadership Seminar, women’s session, of the Haggai Institute, Hawaii. Lura received an invitation to visit his friends and their church in Michigan. Pray that their entire plan will go smoothly and they be used for God’s glory wherever they go. They are Mizo missionaries in Nepal.
THAILAND
Dr. Zothansiami (Tetei) is working to arrange the visit of Liana and Ngeni Mualchin to Thailand and Myanmar (Burma). As usual, she is very busy taking care of many girls in her ministry establishment and visitors from USA. God blesses her ministry for His Kingdom. She is a Mizo missionary in Thailand.
USA: HEADQUARTERS
After a long break, we are happy to hear from Dr. Lala who is originally from Manipur state in India. His work is to help people with AIDS and HIV. He wrote to us from Singapore on his way to his base at the capital city of India, Delhi. May God be with Him.
In the next four months, Liana and Ngeni Mualchin have a heavy schedule and they need your special prayers. Ngeni is suspending her Jail ministry in El Dorado Country, California. She will concentrate on Jail ministry in India and Myanmar (Burma).
The Mualchins have limited time and financial support, hoping the Lord will supply for their needs. Please continue to pray as they prepare to visit Thailand, Burma and India. On this trip, there will be no time to visit Bangladesh, Nepal and UK as planned before.KINGDOM MISSION (Mt. 28:18-20)
By Liana Mualchin
(A missiological note on Roman Catholic establishments vis-a-vis Protestant Reformation, adapted from Perspective on World Mission publications.)
Reformation movement was already ongoing within the church when Martin Luther was considered with German nationalistic (separatist) hopes. Luther produced the fourteenth (not first) German translation of the Bible. To Protestants, the issue is faith versus law; and to Romans unity versus division and uniformity versus national & indigenous diversity. The use of Bible in peoples’ languages eventually won.In the ensuing 200 years, it is most significant that the Roman church sent missionaries world-wide whereas Protestant did not send any. This is all the more ironic as Protestant claim to take the Bible seriously but mission action is noticeably absent.
We can learn from this historic fact that promoting sound doctrine does not excuse Christians from sharing the “blessings” of the Lord to other nations and peoples. Thus, the simple reason why we have so many Roman Catholic establishments in the world is that they sent out missionaries in obedience to the Bible – witnessing in Jerusalem, Judea, and to the ends of the earth. Protestants have to follow them 200 years later.
May God move us to share of the “blessings” promised to Abraham and fulfilled in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ. This mission should be most paramount to Christians around the world. May all the nations of the earth bow down before Him and to God be the glory for ever and ever!Ngeni’s Prayer Request:
I need peace of mind as we plan to visit Thailand, Burma and India in January-February 2004. I recall my past experiences and wonder what might happen if something goes wrong in Burma. If you read my testimony, you can imagine my fear of being in jail again. Sometimes I feel like the Lord is leading my life against my personality. One of my favorite songs, “My Life is But a Weaving,” describes this feeling: “I cannot choose the color…My life is but a weaving between my Lord and me.”
