Book Review & Comments by Ngeni Mualchin:

“Bible Inerrancy” By Dr. P.C Biaksiama

First, I want you to know that anything academic gets on my nerves. I enjoy reading the “Bible,” nice stories without violence and missionary books. English, Hindi, Science and all the difficult subjects are my enemies. I hate exams and competition. Now you know me a bit.

Three times I picked up "Bible Inerrancy" by Dr. Biaksiama to read it. The book is in Mizo and I know Mizo very well. Still, the subject is a tough one for me and I was not sure if I would understand it. The fourth time I picked up the book, I refused to put it back and started reading it.

Wow! The book was easy to understand. Siama wrote about difficult topics in a simple way and makes it compact. Not only did I understand the book, I really enjoyed it and became aware of new topics. I never seriously considered the issue of liberalist teaching because I did not realize how dangerous it can be. In Bible College, they talked about it but I did not pay much attention because I always believed that the “Bible” is the Word of God, God breathed. Lately, after seeing liberal churches and believers’ lives, I reconsidered liberalism and now see it as a silent killer of the church’s mission.

Most heresy comes from intellectual and knowledgeable people. Spiritual strength comes from the Word of God rather than reading so much other material. Revivals start from people who believe the “Bible” is the Word of God. Many church members, especially those from liberalist backgrounds, do not realize the human need to be born again or need to be born in a new spirit.

Siama notes that Jesus quotes from the O.T. and states the verses exactly as they are written. We may say it does not make a difference how accurate we are with Scripture as long as people believe Jesus to be their personal Lord and Savior. For one person this might be fine, however, to be effective people we should surrender completely to the Word of God unless we can prove it false. Siama mentions about the creation in Hebrew by faith we believe that the world was made by God. I like it. Personally, I feel so lucky to have the Holy Spirit to teach me the secret things and be my counselor in daily life.

One thing that bothers me is an article church delegates of Mizoram brought back from Shillong. The article, Proposed Amendment, was arguing to change the point of the Bible being “infallible” to the Bible being “sole authority”. There was no writer, name, or publisher included in the paper!

Every church leader should read this book. It is eye opening and warns about liberalism, even in Mizoram. If someone refuses to accept the Bible inerrancy there is nothing we can do about it, but someone who is willing to teach others that the Bible as only sole authority, I don’t think they get the message from the Holy Spirit.

In the O.T. time, the leaders read the scripture and people stood and listened for long hours. The reading was not explained and no sermons were given like today. Now, some preachers can say wonderful and interesting sermons for a long time without even reading the Word of God. If the Word of God is not good enough then what can we trust? Nothing. To me when the person does not believe the Bible inerrancy as many others things they are extremely liberal. It is important how you believe God’s Word in your heart and teach to others.

Who is liberal? The person who went to liberal college? The answer is no. It is the person who bases his knowledge, life, teaching, guidance in something other than the Word of God.

Siama addresses liberalism questions of: Virgin birth, Jesus is God, miracles, Jesus death on the cross for sinners, Jesus and believers resurrection, ascendance to heaven, second coming, Judgment, good and bad spirit, the Holy Spirit, Trinity, death because of sin, human nature were sin by birth.  If church leaders are teaching these things as questionable there is no doubt that in one or two generations people will not know whether they even need a Savior. I am afraid to make it complicated with more comments. Friends, let us serve the Lord by faith and learn to lean on Him and His Word, without any doubt, because knowledge can frustrate man. May the Lord bless you. I do recommend Mizo people to read this book. I hope it will be as helpful and understandable for you as it was for me.

INDIA, KOLKATA:

We are encouraged to get email from Hruaitea Chhangte. He mentioned how he learned about the ministry of MCGN from Tlana Hnamler, a missionary in Nepal. He encouraged us to form a Mizo Positive Thinker Forum or something similar. Maybe someday we can start this if we have help from the Mizo people. Hruaia is working for the government as Asst. Controller of Mines. In the future, we wish he is willing to lead MCGN in Kolkatta.

MIZORAM NEEDS:

As mentioned before, we are convinced of the need for a theological school (biblical), with sound teaching, and a Christian training center in Mizoram. Mizoram is surrounded by Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists. Mizoram is nearly 100% Christian. We have a base to start from by the offer of Sinner’s Friend, founder Evan. K Lianthanga. Details will be given when that agreement is final.

MIZORAM:

Dr. Biaksiama relays good news that the resent ministry in Lawngtlai and Saiha went well. Although there was a death in the community and many special Easter programs the message was received well. In Saiha they meet in two different churches. Every meeting was packed and overflowing. Dr. Foster and Harrison spoke. In bigger churches there were 700-800 in one meeting; in smaller churches from 400-500. We are encouraged by the church leaders having one spirit in the Lord’s ministry.

MYANMAR (BURMA):

Email from Rev. Dr. Laithuama tells us of their plans in Myanmar. They are working on the next meeting at the end of this year. It is the Tribal Church Leaders Conference. They expect to have 100 leaders attend.

They have a big plan for the young people and children to renew Christian life and Mizo culture in the community. It is called tlawmngaihna, a Mizo term which means sacrificial life for the good of community. At first, it might look like AWANA activities that churches do here. They want to know more about AWANA and Boy Scouts to get information and books that can show the uniform and the activities for a guide.

NEPAL:

Received email from Lura informing us that they are having another Discipleship Training from April 4, 2003. There are always things happening in Nepal so we need to remember them in our prayers. Most of our members here are missionaries, therefore, they are working hard and important activities go on every week if not every day. Pray that they will rely on the Holy Spirit and trust in God’s Power alone. May the Lord use their lives for His glory.

Good news: Email from Lura from resent Discipleship Training in Nepal, 11 people were

baptized on April 13, 2004. In the mist of heavy spiritual warfare, the power of God was revealed in the meeting and some were healed from physical as well as spiritual sickness. One Buddhist monk joined them. He saw no hope in the Buddhist sacrificial system.

USA: HEADQUARTERS:

Pastor Bruce Moore Mission Pastor in Liberty Christian Church (LCC) Fairfield accepted our request to become a MCGM senior adviser. He was one of the ones who helped our leaders in the 2000 leadership conference.

Mr. and Mrs. Mualchin, Lisa Mualchin and Ed Morales went to O.M. Fundraising dinner in Sacramento. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Dietz, O.M. leaders, are longtime friends through the ministry. This couple always gives moral support to MCGN and the Mualchins just wanted to do the same. They met Paul Fitzgerald, founder of Tent Maker, and Don Graham. Paul mentioned about Newsletter of MCGN and they graciously and openly talked about ministry. Liana mentioned our need for a helper in maintaining the website. We are glad to get a phone call and email from Don Graham saying that he is willing to help keep up the website for us.

We are overwhelmed to get enough money for 1000 New Testaments so quickly for the inmates in Mizoram. Pray that the 1000 will be available soon. We want to give the Truth about the love and saving grace of Jesus to everyone in Mizoram jails. Also, we are planning future ministry particularly during the Mizoram trip in Jan-Feb 2004.

Letter from Rev. Rualchhina informing that the condition of Christians in Myanmar is improving lately. Please keep praying for our brothers and sisters in Myanmar. Thanks to Rev. Rualchhina Vangchhia, MCGN spiritual adviser.
