opened a new chapter in Mizoram in 1998. They are hoping to open another chapter

Christian Foundation Institute (CFI):
On July 19, the first board meeting was held. They all agreed on the concept
and stressed the need to have CFI in Mizoram. They are committed to work together
on making CFI a reality. Much work remains to be done as this is a huge undertaking.
We want to have a solid foundation institute for transforming Christian life

Himalayan
Harvest Ministry (HHM) highlights:
We got a nice newsletter
of the Himalayan Harvest Ministry from Lura. It has color pictures of HHM’s events.
We do enjoy reading the moving testimony of Mr. Suk Bahadur Shrestha. HHM
desires to fulfill the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus, specifically in reaching
Tibetans. HHM’s main activities are Discipleship Training, Evangelism, Church
Planting and Childrens’ Ministry. They need your prayers, financial support, or
direct personal involvement to fulfill their goal. Some of their needs are very
simple like pots, linens, school supplies, clothing for children, etc.

Gospel Hrilvelthanga (Hrila) has returned to Myanmar (Burma) to
continue teaching at a local Bible college. We believe that he is among a few
committed to return back home from Bible study abroad. Hrila is a faithful
servant, a hero who will not abandon the sheep the Lord commited under his
care. Let us remember him in our prayers.
USA: HEADQUARTERS
On July 14, a meeting
was held at Patricia Macy’s house. Discussion focused on the ground rules for starting
the Christian Foundation Institute (CFI) in Mizoram and stressed on making a unified
first step. Marian Hanna drafted a letter to Mizoram and Patricia prepared a lunch
for us. Following the meeting, Liana called MCGN-Mizoram Coordinator, Siama to
explain the requirements for CFI board members. We hope and pray that we can
start CFI soon.
SPECIAL REPORT ON
MIZORAM
By Dr. Kenneth Neill Foster
(Note: Dr. Foster is a team member who visited Mizoram in April 2003 to fulfill the desire to have “Deeper Life meetings” in Lawngtlai and Saiha. He was accompanied by his wife, Marilynne E. Foster, and Rev. Bob Harrison. The idea of the meetings came during our November 2002 visit to Mizoram with Bob Harrison. We are thankful to the Fosters, Bob, and Dr. P.C. Biaksiama for ministering to the churches. Most of all, we thank the Lord for all who participated in the meetings. This following report is from Dr. Foster’s “Prayer Band–Latest Newsletter” at www.kneillfoster.com.)
“Bounded to the south with Burma and on the west with Bangladesh, this Christian community has every difficulty that larger Christian communities have. They have a drug problem coming in from Burma, plus nominalism, backsliding, wayward teens, and liberalism is becoming entrenched in their main seminary. Despite this, churches are numerous, flourishing and strong.
I must mention a couple things about the culture--no beggars are seen, and everyone seems to be cared for. Curiously, their homes are built as high up on the mountain cliffs as possible. We traveled one of the main paved roads of India, but it was difficult--a road of a thousand turns, and every turn seemed to be potentially lethal--precipices ranged from 400 feet to a thousand feet. The tension from the physical danger was palpable as we traveled by SUV to two towns--Langthlai, and then later, Saiha (meaning "elephant's tusk"). The churches were warm and friendly. My preaching and teaching focused on revival and Christian love themes. The responses were full, sometimes large and encouraging. My interpreter at Langthlai was Dr. Biaksiama, an author of many books and a Ph.D. who has renounced all to follow Christ, including an upwardly mobile career in the public service of India.
At Saiha, our team divided in two with Bob Harrison and Dr. Biaksiama speaking in one church, and I--with the assistance of my interpreter-- in another. Again the responses were numerous. We are hopeful that many found the Lord in those days. Attendance at the two sites was over 1,000 each night, including the two locations.”

Pray that the leaders in Mizoram will have godly wisdom to deal problems between the people in Mizoram and a mass of people who came to Mizoram from Chin Hills, Burma. Lately, there has been a surge in various
crimes in Mizoram. Unfortunately, 80% of these crimes were committed by the
people from Chin Hills.
