NEWSLETTER: JULY 2002

THANKS & PRAISES:

 Personal Note:

Liana & Ngeni Mualchin had to say goodbye to their best and long time friends, Ed and Kaji Burgess who left for Pensylvania to be with Ed's parents, Rev. & Mrs. Harold Burgess. The Mualchins first met them in Sacramento 24 years ago. The Burgess are like relatives to the Mualchins; truthful, loving, generous, and giving. While sad and lonely because of this parting, Liana and Ngeni were cheered up by their daughter's (Lisa) graduation from University of California at Davis.

BRIEF REPORTS MCGN GLOBAL POINTS:

INDIA-MIZORAM (Aizawl):

We are glad to report on the latest communication with our Coordinator in Mizoram, Dr. P.C. Biaksiama. His vision is very much like ours as we discussed over the phone and via emails. We are truly connected by the Holy Spirit's work. We gladly agreed to work on the following as priority projects.

1. Christian Foundation: We want to focus on having a Christian Foundation that will house many diverse functions and activities. We want to have a building from which we will mobilize members and supporters to achieve out objectives.

2. Science Textbooks: We want to see that science textbooks for schools and colleges in Mizoram incorporate "creation" as a option for the origin of man and the universe. The textbooks would include both the evolution and the creation theories. We will work with appropriate authorities in Mizoram.

The decision allows us to focus in a determined manner, leaving behind our many desires that we will visit later in God's time.

We want to recognize encouragement we receive from Brother Sam Joseph, Coordinator of English services for non-Mizo speakers in Aizawl, Mizoram, India. He has frequently acknowledged our communications to members and supporters.

Pi Rodingi who is now heading Centre for Electronic Design & Technology of India (CEDTI) at Aizawl, Mizoram informed us about the purposes and needs of the centre. With CEDTI, we will expect to have young Mizos trained in various computer technologies  for the international market. CEDTI is in need of more support and people who are interested may contact her at: aizawl@cedti.org.

Zoramsanga with Revival Evangelical Weekly expressed their appreciation of MCGN monthly Newsletters and requested articles for their weekly paper. In response, Ngeni has prepared and sent to him a short article on her and Liana's 25th wedding anniversary.

Please note that a number of websites (hnamte.com, zoramworld.com, vanglaini.com) with news reports and timely articles on Mizoram have been created by talented Mizos. Truly, Mizoram has been connected by the fast moving information technology with the rest of the world. Thanks to the webmasters, we are well informed about daily events in Mizoram. Let us hope that they will always be used for good purposes and for His glory!

We received a note of thanks from Miss Lalliannguri and her relative Pu Lalkianlova on our prayers and wishes for her sufferings. May God continue to heal her in body and soul.

Through Pastor Rualchhina, we came to know of the evangelistic ministry of former MCGN member, Pu C. Sangchia who preached in about 60 villages in West Bengal, India from last November to March, 2002. The Lord blessed his service with 1574 being baptized. He thanks the Lord, organizations (Campus Crusade for Christ, Calcutta; Pacific Health Education Center, Bakersfield; California, Haggai Institute, Hawaii; etc), and individuals who supported him in many ways. We are thankful for sharing the encouraging news and may God continue to use Him.

INDIA-MIZORAM (Lunglei):

Nghakliana & Jenet Thlacheu provided needed communications to and from Lunglei in southern Mizoram. We are thankful to them for their help.

We are excited to find via internet a new contact from Lunglei, Pu Bawltea, a lecturer in Geography at Lunglei Government College. Bawla and his wife have developed and maintained an interesting website: www.zokalsiam.com. We are encouraged to have great positive communication with them.

INDIA-MEGHALAYA (Shillong):
Liana and Ngeni Mualchin received a personal email from evangelist P.C. Muanthanga and his wife, Puii, now in Christian service based in Shillong, Meghalaya. Muana is Liana's classmate in high school. He has dedicated his life to ministry early on and we are encouraged to hear from him.

INDIA-DELHI:
Brother Lala (Dr. Chinkholal Thangsing) has sent to us the speech of the leading candidate for the next President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalaam. Let us pray that India will have a wise and good President.

JAPAN:
Co-ordinator Pu Lalhruaia was excited about a soon to be published book, "Sensei," (in Mizo) the story of a missionary in Japan. He believes that every Mizo in Japan would want to buy the book!

MYANMAR(BURMA):

Our expectation of more regular communications from Myanmar-MCGN by way of emails appears to be short-lived. We do not get emails from them and we wish to know what is going on there.

In the past, we heard that the government forbid the building of churches, forbid Christian fellowship in churches and homes, and closed the Christian orphanages. The children were then taken to Buddhist monasteries.

Recently, we heard of the release of a popular political leader, Aungsan Suu Kyi from house arrest. We hope that this is a signal of conditions improving overall in the country, including freedom to practice one's belief and religion.

In the Khampat district, a military authoritarian who used to stop the building of churches was transferred and Christians are hoping that they will be able to build churches now.

NEPAL:

From Pokhara, Pu Sanglura (Lura) has sent encouraging words in the Lord. We certainly need a little more encouragement from our brothers and sisters from time to time.

Pu Laltlankima (Tlana) is also working on his Master of Divinity degree. Pray that the Lord will use this training for the ministry entrusted to him and his wife. We wish him well.

Pu Lalringa (Ringa) graciously appreciated Liana's note on the Lord's praise & worship. We want to invite members and readers to contribute any thoughts or share their experience for encouragement in life.

MCGN-Nepal Secretary, Pu K. Lalthangmawia (Puia) conveyed to International Hqrs a message from their recent meeting that they are sorry about problems in MCGN-Aizawl and they desire to work together again with Aizawl leaders. They also asked the direction of MCGN International Hqrs. Their thoughtful message is greatly appreciated. Hqrs referred them to the bye-law for the vision and general direction of MCGN and also informed them of the Hqrs' position.

USA-HEADQUARTERS:

International Hqrs is gratified on its progress in Mizoram, especially with firm steps taken by Coordinator Dr. P. C. Biaksiama. We now have prioritized projects for actions, as stated under Mizoram.

Phyllis Campbell, our life member and faithful supporter has moved to Rancho Cordova, California. We will miss her presence here at the Hqrs. and wish her well there.

Denise Segor, one of the action research team members visiting Mizoram in 1999, expressed her desire to continue receiving MCGN news. We are thankful for her continued interest with us and will do as she requested. She went back to Mizoram last year to complete her field research study. She is now about to complete writing a dissertation for her Ph.D. degree in Human Development Organization from Fielding Institute, Santa Barbara, California. We wish her the best!

A Bible Study Group where Ngeni & Liana Mualchin participated are interested to know more about MCGN and its activities. This is a good opportunity at the local level to relate what they are doing. Pray for more such groups or churches for them.

Ed Morales and Jim Copeland, both local Christian friends to Liana & Ngeni Mualchin continue to encourage and support them for MCGN ministry. Their relationships resulted in encouragement and boldness to move forward. Watch for future developments in the Lord as a result of the relationship.

USA-MARYLAND:

Pu Tluangkima, the new leader of MCGN-Maryland unit and his wife arrived back safely in USA. Our conversation with him was warm and encouraging. He also knows and thinks highly of our MCGN Coordinator Dr. P. C. Biaksiama. We are happy to have him in MCGN ministry. Pu Tluangkima also has friends in the United Kingdom who may like to work with MCGN. We are certainly excited to see such possibilities.

Our Spiritual Advisor, Pastor Rualchhina has informed us the latest information of Myanmar which are stated under Myanmar. We are thankful for such timely news
