Newsletter: January 2002

MCGN is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian organization promoting spiritual and economic development of the people in Mizoram and the surrounding region by serving them as Jesus did (Mt. 20:28)

"The harvest is truly plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest" (Mt. 9:37-38)

THANKS:

CONDOLENCE:

This world is not our home. As believers in Christ, we are all going one by one to the heavenly home our Lord Jesus has prepared for us. Beloved son of our dear friends Lalringa Pachuau and Vanlaldiki Sailo, Lalrozuala (Zuala), passed away last month on December 9, 2001. Now he is in heaven with the Lord where there is no more sickness, sorrow, and death. Let us pray for Zuala's parents, sisters and friends in Nepal for comfort and that others may come to know the Lord through their lives. When Zuala was hit by a truck and his body lying on the road, his mom said "The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord". That is a challenging attitude and way of life for all of us.

A FEW WORDS ABOUT LALROZUALA PACHUAU

(As received from MCGN-Nepal)

Lalrozuala (called Zuala) was born on 20th January 1989 in Serkawn, Mizoram, NE India. He was the youngest and only son of Mr Pachuau Lalringa and Mrs Vanlaldiki Sailo. His three sisters are:

1. Jenny Lallawmpuii Pachuau (Jenny)
2. Lalrokimi Pachuau (Kim Kim)
3. Lalenkawli Pachuau (Tete).

He was a student of KISC, reading in Class II (Equivalent to Class VII). He had a very close relationship with his father, like a friend. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior on 16th September 2001.

He met with an accident near his house on the 9th December (Sunday) 2001 at around 3.20 PM.

He was a jolly and an innocent boy; interested in games and sports, his favorite sport was basket ball. He loved his friends and had a great sense of humor.

"The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD". Job 1:21.

This was spoken out by his dear mother at the seeing of his body lying on the road.

Some songs were composed to Zuala by the family members with whom he spent a lot of his time during his young life. They are:

IN MEMORY OF AND FOR ZUALA PACHUAU (1989-2001):

We Haven't Lost Anybody, God has gained a Saint
By Rhys Barker

There is one question that pulls down our hearts
We ask ourselves why?
But now we know he's in a safe place
Sitting above high in the sky,
If only time could just be a tape
Cuz then I would rewind
I'd go back to when we used to have fun
Then we could have a great time.

Chorus

I wish that I could have seen you be a man
I know you'd have made us proud,
There's a part of you in each of ya precious sisters
So, that makes me glad to know that Zuala you're still around,
What kind of place would allow a 12 year old to die
I hate this stupid cruel, cruel world full of violence and sin,
If it were up to me I'd add this world a door
Let the bad stuff out and let the good stuff in

(Chorus)
We haven't lost a boy; instead God has gained himself a saint (x3)

‘ZUALA’
By Mr Backler ''KISC''

A beautiful young star, shining brightly;
A shaft of sunlight, strong and warm;
Bringing light and life to all around him,
Divine joy, in human form.

A roaring river, close to its source;
A towering wave crashing onto the shore;
The flame from a match, burning bright,
Full of energy at its core,
A bolt of lightning, banishing darkness;
A shower of rain on a hot summer's day;
A delicate flower of innocent beauty,
Whose fragrance and color drive ugliness away.

A son, a grandson, a nephew, a brother,
A friend, a team-mate, a student, a boy
Whose love of life and love of his Father
Have filled us all with incredible joy.

MCGN-2001

Report for MCGN-2001 is under preparation by Dr. Lalliana Mualchin, President. It will be reported in next month's Newsletter.

BRIEF REPORTS FROM MCGN GLOBAL POINTS

INDIA - MIZORAM:

Lalbiakdika (Biakdika) Varte, MCGN Executive Director, is compiling information about non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Mizoram. This information will be useful for understanding Mizoram and forming relationships with like-minded groups.

A special training in USA for Biakdika is being considered and we hope that will take place sometime this year.

MYANMAR (BURMA):

Dr. Laithuama, President of MCGN-Myanmar, called to inform us about their coming Peace Conference to be held in early February 2002. We were pleasantly surprised by the unexpected call from that part of the world and the good news he brought. MCGN is gratified that the money that was sent via Pu Lalhruaia (Japan) for the conference was received in time. We are encouraged to note that participants will be from many denominations. May the Lord be glorified through this wonderful Peace Conference.

NEPAL:

From Kathmandu, we received an encouraging e-mail from Rev. K. Lalthangmawia (Puia), our new Secretary of MCGN-Nepal. We really appreciate the way he wrote giving an impressive list of MCGN members. We are just delighted to see that the females were listed first and followed by the males. This is polite and respectful, especially for Ngeni Mualchin!

From Pokhara, we received great news that Brother Sanglura (Lura) graciously baptized eight new believers in a recent occasion. Praise the Lord!

USA:

We are happy to see that the Leadership Training has been concluded successfully. There is so much to share about the training but space will not permit us to do so. It was most gratifying, especially for Liana and Ngeni Mualchin. It gives us better ideas for possible future trainings such as how to prepare, what to expect, and what kind of people should come. We consider it a blessing for all concerned - participants, speakers, hosts, and organizations and churches visited by the team.

The Mizo team has learned so much by living with wonderful and loving people. They have received so much blessings. Evangelist Vanlalzauva said that he had never received so many sermons from the Lord in such a short time. Miss Sangpari (Partei) Mualchin had a chance to see and experience the wonderful ministry of CityTeam in Oakland, California. Note that CityTeam has its headquarters in San Jose, California and has been working with homeless and drug-addicted people in major cities of USA for a number of years. CityTeam is poised to expand its ministry worldwide.

In the training, all may not go the way we planned and expected but we know that the Spirit brings something good when we open our hearts. Our expectation was for the team members to learn something good that they will apply in Mizoram, and they will have a kindred spirit of working together in the ministry, and lovingly encourage one another in building up the Lord's Kingdom.

We were fortunate that the team was given free access to a series of great mission lectures called "Perspectives" by mission leaders. They all enjoyed the lectures on Sunday evenings. We discussed introducing the lectures to Mizoram with Bruce Logan, coordinator of these classes for Northern California. We are hopeful to do so in a modified form in Mizoram by having a trained coordinator.

Pastor Bruce Moore gave a farewell and Christmas party for the team and their hosts in his house in the evening of December 20. We all had a good time, singing Christmas carols and visiting spectacular Christmas theme displays in his neighborhood.

The team was invited by CityTeam in Oakland for a Christmas party on December 23. This is where Partei volunteered in their mission work. The Mizo team was introduced by Liana Mualchin to the audience, and they were well received.

On Dec. 29 evening, Bill Thorpe made video recordings of Mizo Christian and Cultural songs sung by the team and ably explained by Miss Lisa Mualchin. We hope to make CDs or cassette tapes.

The team was introduced and invited to sing Mizo Christmas songs during the two December 30th Sunday morning services at Church of the Foothills, Cameron Park, California where Liana and Ngeni Mualchin are members. The church showed appreciative enjoyment as the team enthusiastically sang the traditional and contemporary Mizo Christmas songs accompanied by a guitar and a Mizo drum. We heard several positive comments from the church attendees and some are very interested to have the audio or video. This is the only occasion the team was formally invited by a major church. In the same evening, Bill and Monica Thorpe invited the team for a Christmas party at their house and sang songs in English, German, and Mizo.
