Newsletter: April 2002

MCGN is a non-profit, non-denominational Christian organization promoting spiritual and economic development of the people in Mizoram and the surrounding region by serving them as Jesus did (Mt. 20:28).

“The harvest is truly plentiful, but the laborers are few.  Therefore pray the Lord

of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Mt. 9:37-38)

THANKS & PRAISES:

BRIEF REPORTS MCGN GLOBAL POINTS:

INDIA-MIZORAM:
Preparation of the electronic Bible (in Mizo) is still in progress. Even though our original idea and vision was for this project to be done by volunteers, MCGN-Aizawl suggested that we offer a small amount of money for typing. Sometimes things move rather slowly because of the system in India and Mizoram. Pray that those who are working on our electronic Bible project will make it a priority and complete the typing soon. We believe that this will lead to exciting applications for Mizo Bible users.

MCGN-Aizawl, Mizoram had a general body meeting on April 5, 2002. We have not had any news at this time.

INDIA-SERAMPORE COLLEGE:
We received a letter from Principal Dr. Lalchungnunga regarding his visit to the USA this summer.  He will be sharing about the work at Serampore College. This well-known college was founded by William Carey, father of the modern missionary movement. As far as we know, it is more than a college: it has the exclusive authority to confer biblical and theological higher degrees in India, very much like a university. We are thankful that the Lord also entrusted our Mizo brother as its principal. We would love to help him in anyway we can, according to more detailed instructions from him. Pray that our brother will have his time well spent in America.

JAPAN:
Liana Mualchin talked to Co-ordinator Pu Lalhruaia (Hruaia). They are trying to work out how our Mizo Christians will meet in the future. No other news from Japan.

NEPAL:
We received the first (we believe) MCGN-Nepal Newsletter. It truly encourages and uplifts us spiritually. We hope you also received the newsletter.  If not, let us know so that we can forward a copy to you. MCGN membership is increasing in Nepal.

They wrote very challenging things and we can see a true missionary spirit in their activities. In the spirit of MCGN serving others, they have the habit and nature of helping people. They rejoice with those who are rejoicing and mourn with those who are mourning. Such cannot happen unless they work together in one spirit, though they are from different denominational backgrounds. There is no division at all in the Lord's Kingdom ministry! We also note that they always give us wonderful and thoughtful advice (wisdom from God) when we need it so badly. We can tell that they just don't talk but prayerfully relate to us.

It is refreshing to know that they are studying Jabez's prayer for blessings. A small book on the same subject is quite popular here in the USA. Yes, we are God's children and why not ask for His blessings? We should pray every day to be a blessing to someone! How the Lord will be glorified by such blessings in this needy world today.

We also appreciate the way MCGN-Nepal keep their finance, maintaining well-audited records and using the money wisely. We are touched how they used Rs. 13,700 for the need of others! They are not many, most of them are missionaries, and yet they can raise money. Surely, with their faith and desires, God will provide for them. They do a good job, and we have much to learn from them.

USA:
We had the Quarterly Board Meeting on March 15. It was a good meeting with discussions about the future MCGN ministry. Board members are very much of one spirit especially regarding restructuring the MCGN-Aizawl, Mizoram Board. The meeting minute follows:

QUARTERLY MCGN MEETING
March 15, 2002: 7:00 P.M.

Present:   Liana Mualchin, President

               Ngeni Mualchin, Secretary

               Marian Hanna, Treasurer

               Jeff Mead, Chairman

               Patricia Macy, Editor

               Zirsangzela (Zira)

               Sangpari Mualchin (Partei)

1. MCGN-AIZAWL, MIZORAM OFFICE

Liana gave an in-depth evaluation of the staffing and financial matters within the MCGN-Aizawl, Mizoram office.  Restructuring will begin; book audits are to be initiated and completed.  All the monies sent to the Aizawl office must be accounted for before the books can be closed.  The Executive Director has fulfilled his probationary period.  It was unanimously decided that Liana will send the E.D. a letter that his position is terminated.  However, he will be expected to coordinate completion of the electronic Bible project.  The MCGN-Aizawl, Mizoram General Secretary has been asked to supply his resignation through the Board in Aizawl, and the Board was also given two options for actions.

Restructuring will include written instructions on what Headquarters expects the MCGN-Aizawl office personnel to accomplish.  Accountability will take the form of written reports to Headquarters.  The By-laws will be rewritten and submitted to Headquarters for approval.

2. MCGN LOGO/BROCHURE/MIZO SONG VIDEO/SENSEI

The new logo created by Kent Gordon has been used on the certificates for Mizo Leadership Training (MLT) and on the Brochure designed by Partei.  The certificates of completion will to be given to the leaders who completed the Mizo Leadership Training held in California at the Church of the Foothills in Cameron Park and Liberty Christian Center in Fairfield last year.

Bill Thorpe videotaped Zira, Vuli, Partei and Zauva singing Mizo songs in Mizo dress.  Lisa Mualchin introduced the songs and gave a brief summary of the meaning. It was nicely done.

Sensei copyright owner has given the Mualchins another book entitled "Cannibal Valley" that can be translated into the Mizo language.  The book is a history of a tribe in New Guinea with plenty of pictures of their early history.

3. SWING SET GIFT

Liana and Ngeni Mualchin will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a $200 gift to buy swing sets for Thutak Nunpui Tu (TNT), Aizawl.

4. LETTER TO NICKY CRUZ

Liana has drafted a letter on behalf of Disciple Training Institute, Aizawl, inviting Nicky Cruz to visit Mizoram when and if his schedule permits. (The letter was mailed to Nicky Cruz Outreach Ministry in Colorado Springs). Pray that Nicky will respond favorably.

5. RECENT CONTACTS - ED MORALES AND ROBERT HARRISON

Brother Ed Morales from a local congretation befriended the Mualchins and began supporting them with prayers and ideas about sharing the MCGN ministry among local churches. Missionary Robert (Bob) Harrison who Liana Mualchin met at the church monthly mens’ fellowship is now applying his vast experience to MCGN strategic planning. Bob has been visiting the Mualchins and will continue to do so to formulate concrete plans.

6. ZIRA'S AND PARTEI'S FAREWELL/ PARTEI’S RELATIONSHIP WITH CITYTEAM

Zira said the highlight of his trip to Maryland was his spiritual experience while fellowshipping with believers in a church whose pastor is connected to a nation-wide association of Christian schools.  One of which is our treasurer Marian’s school in Placerville.

CityTeam has no opening for an international trainee volunteer right now.  But Partei has made good contacts at CityTeam and is encouraged that she will be selected in September.

7. CONCLUDING PRAYER

Each one in the group prayed for MCGN and all who are affiliated with the ministry.

Before disbanding at 10:00 P.M., the group enjoyed a sample of the songs from the MCGN new video produced by Bill Thorpe.

Respectfully submitted,

Patricia Macy

PRAYER REQUESTS:

·        Travel mercies for Nepal missionary Pu Ringa and his family as they travel to Mizoram. As you recall, Pu Ringa's beloved son (ZUALA) died before Christmas in Nepal. Being back in Mizoram without Zuala could be a sad time for the family. Pray that the Lord will use their life as an example and hope for others.

·        Bishop Stephen Rotluanga for his ministry in Mizoram and North East India.

·        For peace in the Middle East, Jerusalem, India, Afghanistan, Nepal, Indonesia, and around the world.

·        The Rutherford family in their first missionary assignment in Japan for smooth adjustment in their new place of service.

·        That our electronic Bible project may be completed.

·        A Christian ministry team from Mizoram traveling in Canada and Taiwam for the next few months.

·        For someone to volunteer as Secretary at MCGN International Headquarters.
