BRIEF REPORTS FROM MCGN GLOBAL POINTS

INDIA: CALCUTTA

MCGN-Calcutta President, Pu Ramfangzauva asked us if Satan was seen at the New York World Trade Center on September 11. We did not hear of such a report. Perhaps Satan's evil angels were there, we don't know. Pu Ramfangzauva provided us with the officers' phone numbers. They were interested to know about the Mizo Leadership Training.

Mizo Leadership Training:

On Monday September 17, Patricia Macy, Ngeni & Liana Mualchin met with Lanny Langston at his office in Placerville. Lanny is a successful businessman. He serves the community in many ways through artistic and spiritual endeavors. He will be one of the MLT speakers.

On Tuesday September 18, Jeff Mead and Liana Mualchin met with Pastor Brian Long of the Church of the Foothills to discuss MCGN and the Mizo Leadership Training session. Pastor Brian appreciates the ministry of MCGN and has offered the church facilities for our leadership training. He has graciously accepted our invitation to give a concluding message on Friday afternoon, November 2.

MCGN Special Fellowship Meeting: September 22, 2001

Dr. & Mrs. Mualchin honored Dr. Lala at a dinner on September 22, 2001. Those present were: Liana Mualchin, Ngeni Mualchin, Tim Mualchin, Lisa Mualchin, Phyllis Campbell, Patricia Macy, Betty Hogan - guest, and Dr. Chinkholal Thangsing (Lala) - honored guest.

Dr. Lala’s medical career encompasses years in a mission hospital in his home state of Manipur and hospital clinics in Delhi. The choice of a medical profession and where to practice was not always Dr. Lala's to make. In fact, he was sure he did not want to be a doctor, but he could not refuse when the rare opportunity was presented to him to attend medical school. Later when fighting in Manipur made life too hazardous, Dr. Lala moved to Delhi.

Dr. Lala tracked the spread of HIV/AIDS from America to India, then from the southern part of India to his home area in northeast India. He came to the conclusion that the spread of this disease was mainly through drug abusers using contaminated needles and through contaminated blood transfusions.

In Delhi he found very few doctors helping those affected. Only one bed in a large hospital was allotted to HIV/AIDS patients. Many were left to die in the hallways waiting to be admitted to a bed and treatment. Dr. Lala’s compassionate heart reached out to these unfortunates, also his helping hands reached out to touch them. He was surprised to learn no other doctor would touch these patients. Sometimes Dr. Lala finds whole families must be treated for this disease. Treatment medicines are very expensive and many die because they lack money to buy these medications.

Dr. Lala not only treats patients, he also teaches and trains others in the care of HIV/AIDS patients. He is in Placerville to attend a To Serve mission luncheon honoring him and Dr. Katz, head of the HIV/AIDS program for Kaiser in southern California. To Serve’s focus is to help the Tibetan refugees in India and the poor in Delhi. They met Dr. Lala two years ago and became interested in his work among the poor and Tibetan refugees.

On Sunday September 23 afternoon, Patricia Macy and the Mualchin family attended the luncheon prepared by To Serve honoring Dr. Lala and Dr. Katz. Both doctors presented moving stories about HIV/AIDS patients in India.

MCGN Meeting: Friday September 29

On September 29, Liana Mualchin, Ngeni Mualchin, Marian Hanna, Jeff Mead, Phyllis Campbell, and Patricia Macy met to discuss Liana & Ngeni's interactions with Dr. Lala on future ministry but no decision was made.

The group approved a $200 contribution to the Peace Conference in Myanmar, organized by Rev. Dr. Laithuama, MCGN-Myanmar President. Also, approved was $350-$400 for Old Testament portion of the Lushai Electronic Bible Project. Pu Zirsanga, MCGN-Chhimtuipui area Coordinator, is interested in doing this work.

The ministry of Herald for Christ in Aizawl and its speaker, Pu Faktea was presented by Liana & Ngeni Mualchin. Physical and spiritual healings are received by many from various sections of society. Some non-Mizos in Mizoram have accepted the Gospel and become Christians, the most remarkable being a story about the conversion of a young Hindu girl, visiting her parents in Aizawl. Liana & Ngeni had found Faktea's messages on Internet web sites prepared by supporters of the ministry in Aizawl.

Biennial Report:

The required biennial report of MCGN-International HQ was submitted to the California Secretary of State with the $20 fee.

Videos:

Two "Transformation I" videos were purchased and given to Dr. Lala: one is for him and one is for MCGN-Nepal. We will get another copy for MCGN-Mizoram.

BRIEF PROFILES OF INVITED SPEAKERS FOR THE MIZO LEADERSHIP TRAINING: OCT-NOV 2001

(Continued from last month)

Following this in the mid-70's, he opened an OM's office in Finland, the home country of his wife, Annelli. From there, a team was formed in neighboring Holland to pray for one year for another ship and crew similar to LOGOS. The prayer was answered in the late 70's and Frank became the Director of the second ship, DOULOS from 1979 to 1984. Trips were made to Latin America with great results. Frank became the OM Field Leader in Latin America from 1985 to 1995 which he eventually handed over to others. He has been Minister-at-large to OM since 1995.

Frank occasionally speaks for Perspective, a unique series of mission lectures. As his record indicates, he is a proven leader for the Lord's Kingdom.

Frank is a native of California and his wife is a native of Finland. They met in London, became engaged by letter when she was in India and he was in Spain, and were married in Teheran, Iran. Their first home was in Kathmandu, Nepal. Their first daughter was born in England and took her first steps in Vietnam. Their second daughter was born in Quito, Ecuador and took her first steps in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Their first daughter is married with two children and their second daughter is studying at Biola.

Frank is a good friend of Mizo Christian Global Network. He wants to visit Mizoram to encourage and work with them. He told Stuart Spani about MCGN and he introduced Pastor Bruce Moore via Tentmaker to MCGN.

She has worked in mental health services most of her adult life: worked with severely emotionally disturbed children for 14 years in residential and day treatment; completed required training; served as a trained lay counselor for 3 years at Sunnyside Counseling Services; worked for Men's Resource Center for 6 years, including 4 years as a therapist working with groups of men in treatment for domestic and other violence. Currently, she has a private practice as a counselor, and is teaching a course called "Reading mystics: A deeper path to self help."

Mary Beth had been to Mizoram in March 2000 as a member of Mizoram Action Research Team which evolved to Mizoram Action Research Center (MARC).

Mary Beth contributed swingsets for some schools in Aizawl. Her compassionate action encouraged MCGN to start a low-budget project to provide swingsets and basket-ball hoops to a couple of villages in each of the districts of Mizoram.

Bill introduced Mizo Christian Global Network to Valerie Bentz of the Fielding Graduate Institute. With the support of MCGN, a trip to Mizoram was organized for a research team from Fielding, which evolved in to Mizoram Action Research Center (MARC).

SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 IN USA

By: Lalliana Mualchin

The world witnessed terrible events on September 11, 2001. A terrorist group high jacked four commercial planes; two hit and destroyed the World Trade Center (WTC) buildings in Manhattan, New York; one hit the Pentagon in Washington DC; and one crashed in the Pennsylvania countryside because some courageous passengers tried to stop the terrorists from accomplishing their evil intentions. Some passengers used cell phones to give loved ones their last, memorable words. Thousands of people are still missing. Many people are heroically working to find and rescue them, with few successes. It was reported that people from many countries died in the WTC buildings, including about 250 from India. It is a tragedy we will never forget.

Humanly speaking, we are all helpless in this situation but we pray to our Heavenly Father to comfort the victims and to give wisdom to our leaders who are dealing with the aftermath. In the midst of this unspeakable tragedy, we saw great outpourings of love and compassion for the victims and strong unity among the people in the United States. The war against terrorists is supported globally and the movement will be an ongoing process that will take perhaps years. Let us pray that the will of the Lord be done on earth.

We received letters of sympathy from MCGN global points for our country. We also learned that the Mizoram leaders spontaneously sent their heart-felt sympathies, contributions and prayer to the US officials.

MCGN International HQ also contributed to the victims through the American Red Cross as a token of our love and sympathy.

In all this, let us remember that the Lord God is in charge and He loves the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should be saved. That is the Gospel. Let us be prepared to transform the world for His kingdom and be always prepared to meet Him. The Lord tells us in the Bible that He is coming again. While none of us will ever know the exact time, it seems to be very near. As believers, we should long for His Second Coming when the Prince of Peace will reign! Let Him reign in our heart and soul today and live according to His teachings in the Bible. In that spirit, MCGN is to serve others as Jesus Christ did in an inclusive manner so as to make a difference in the world today for His Kingdom.
