Pu Rinsanga, IAS, emailed his thanks for the MCGN newsletter and website. He finds much encouragement in these communications.

INDIA:CALCUTTA

Pastor Vanlalrawna emailed MCGN-USA giving news of how the Lord is bringing in new believers through their Calcutta ministry. He has asked Liana and Ngeni to visit them this month when the Mualchins stop in Calcutta on their way to Mizoram.

INDIA:DELHI

Dino L. Touthang sent an encouraging message about the willingness to work with Christian brothers in India, Myanmar, etc. This is the Spirit of MCGN.

INDIA: MIZORAM:

Congratulations on the three new members in Aizawl.

JAPAN:

Dr. Liana Mualchin has returned from a successful trip to Japan. He met with MCGN-Japan coordinator Lalhruaia and Secretary Rev. Joseph Raltonga. Liana shared with a Japanese congregation at the Highland Church in Yokoska and visited a mixed congregation (Japanese, Korean, Myanmarese and Mizo) at the Riverside Chapel Bethel Church in Tokyo.

On October 8 and October 15, Liana visited the Riverside Chapel Bethel Church in Tokyo. He was invited to speak and chose to share with the Mizo congregation "How God Called People" emphasizing Moses and David from the Old Testament. This congregation is poor yet they help 12 homeless people with food every week. Liana also shared a talk on "The Body of Christ" with the Mizo congregation.

On October 15, at the invitation of Professor Norio Abeki, Dr. Liana visited the Japanese church in Yokoska, the Highland Church. Liana was asked about Mizoram. The congregation expressed its desire to bring more Japanese into the church and asked for prayer that this would happen.

NEPAL:

Members of Nepal-MCGN held a picnic on October 12, the first event of this kind for the members. Only those living near Kathmandu were able to attend. This is a good example of what MCGN members can do in different parts of the world to maintain good fellowship with one another.

MCGN has added six new family members. They are:

  1. Pu P.Thansiama leh Pi Lalhmingliani
  2. Rev.P.C.Lalhmachhuana and Family
  3. Pu R.K.Vanlalhruaia and Family
  4. Nl.Lalduhawmi Tochhawng
  5. Vanchuangpuia, Gerri, George
  6. H.B.Chhetri and Family

Congratulations!

One of the converts is a 50-year-old man who had spent months in bed due to a spell that had been placed on him. The Mizo missionaries heard about the situation and through prayer Jesus Christ released this man. Within two months the new Christian, using a walking stick, attended church for the first time. After four weeks his seven children were baptized. This is a glorious living witness in this community.

Another convert is a taxi driver who hated Christians even though his wife was one. After a year of fasting and praying, the wife saw no change in her husband. Then one Sunday after church, a special prayer was said by the congregation for the taxi driver, and God answered. The man came to church on his own. Hallelujah!

Lura and Sangtei had a successful visit to the Mustang region near the Tibetan Border where villages are typically about 10 to 15 houses. Their sermon was recorded so the Tibetans can play it back and be doubly blessed.

Lura and Sangtei carry a special burden for these villagers to have a septic tank system for sanitary benefits. They also carry a burden to have a Christian cemetery in Pokhara. Lura and Sangtei sent pictures of their ministry to the Mualchins. It is encouraging to know the many ways the Lord in using their lives. These two missionaries teach their adopted children to make crosses and key chains from wood.

NORTH AMERICA

USA:

The Mualchins had a successful conference call with Nepal-MCGN on October 3. Six Nepal members were present in Vani's residence. The call dealt with the Spirit of MCGN and the Christian's general responsibility to the world, especially among the needy.

Unfortunately, MCGN liaison with Stuart Spani has been terminated. He was unwilling to keep his verbal promise to give recognition to MCGN in his videos. MCGN Board Members determined they would no longer work with him on the Mizoram videos, and the Board has notified Brother Stuart of its decision.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

MARC/MARI UPDATE

Six members of MARCI are going to Mizoram in the first two weeks of November to discuss with leaders of Mizoram the development of a vision, mission, and goals of the Institute.

DR. LALLIANA MUALCHIN, MCGN INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT VISITED JAPAN.
By Lal Hruaia, MCGN-Japan Co-Ordinator (Originally in Mizo, Translated by Pu Lalringa Pachuau, MCGN-Nepal Chairman)

On the invitation of Professor Kazuoh Seo of the Tokyo Institute of Technology and funded by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Japan, MCGN International President, Dr. Lalliana Mualchin recently visited Japan for an international cooperative research workshop/meeting on earthquake microzonation.

He arrived here in Tokyo on 8th October, the day when MCGN had Sunday service. After the service we had a fellowship meeting. While we were in the meeting, Dr. Liana arrived at 8:30 PM. On our invitation, Dr. Liana addressed our meeting for about 15 minutes and then we had a dinner with him. After the dinner, Dr. Liana went to Machida Central Hotel where he was officially put up. On October 10, he came to my work. We chatted for more than an hour. After this, I took him to his hotel.

On the 12th, he went to Hakone Onsen (a hot spring resort) to attend the workshop for which he was invited to participate. On the invitation of his Christian friend, Professor Norio Abeki, he spent Saturday (Oct. 14) night, talking about MCGN and Mizoram. After that on Sunday, the 15th evening at 7:30, we had a service for him to deliver the message. Though we wanted him to discuss more on MCGN after the service, there was no more time and we felt it was a great loss. However, at the dinner that followed the service, he continued to share with us the vision, purpose and activities of MCGN. All of us appreciated the information we received from him. On 16th I was off from work and had time together with him the whole day, and in the evening he returned to Machida Central Hotel.

On 17th Tuesday, the first secretary on Trade & Commerce of Indian Embassy, Mr. John Thanglura Darlong, IFS, invited him for a dinner. Rev.Joseph Raltonga, the General Secretary of MCGN Japan, Pu Lalvawna, IFS, and Pi Nei Kholi, accompanied him. They had a good time and he was dropped at Rev. Raltonga's apartment by Mr. Thanglura. While he was in Rev. Tonga's apartment, some Mizo newcomers had a chance to meet him. On 18th he left for USA. Rev.Tonga saw him off at Narita Airport.

Review:

During his visit to Japan, we had time to talk about many aspects with our International President Dr. Liana. Let me state the main and remarkable subjects we discussed:

  • The organizer of the workshop made a good arrangement for Liana to have a comfortable hotel for the entire period he was in Japan. Even though Liana knew that the flat we could afford here in Tokyo is small, he choose to come and spend most of his private times with us. We really appreciate this. On his initiative, we had times of prayers and discussions on what MCGN has been doing. Many Mizo and other friends had a chance to meet him. We appreciate that he humbled himself to spend as much of his time as possible with us.
  • Dr. Liana explained the status of the Mizoram Action Research Center (MARC) and Mizoram Action Research Institute (MARI), about which we have heard through emails and newsletters. Now we know more clearly and we appreciate that even some western people enthusiastically have been helping us in many ways. On this, we have come to know that we ourselves have to take more interest in the activities of the MCGN.
  • The ministry of MCGN is concerned not only with Mizoram but also the whole world in trying to reach it with the Gospel. To accomplish this vision, it is necessary to strengthen Mizoram, and the people living in it, spiritually and economically. In the meantime, it is important that we pray for Mizo missionaries all over the world. In this regard, we are glad and encouraged about what the Lord is doing through our Mizo missionaries in Nepal.
  • With some reliable persons, we felt and took interest to have some kind of developmental projects in the southern part of Mizoram and in Chin Hills. Dr. Liana asked Rev. Tonga to write a proposal for a project in the Chin Hills.
  • In Aizawl, the capital city of Mizoram, we have MCGN's office because of the effort of MCGN leaders of Mizoram. With the help of MCGN International headquarters, that office has been equipped with office supplies, a computer, a phone and an Internet connection. At this moment, we are looking for a dedicated part-time MCGN worker in Mizoram headquarters. We discussed starting a broad-based Christian magazine that aims to encourage the Lord's servants working in different places and situations. We reminded ourselves that it is very encouraging for all MCGN members to see the efforts and hard work of members in Mizoram.
  • Dr. Liana has had good cooperation with scientists and engineers in Japan for more than ten years. He proposed to take up preventive measures against earthquakes in Mizoram using modern sophisticated instruments with the help of his Japanese friends. His friends encouraged him to prepare a proposal on this matter. Among his good friends, Professor Norio Abeki, also a Christian, will be very helpful in this concern. Let us pray for this.
  • MCGN is a network of people doing His ministry at the cost to oneself. If one joins us for opportunities and political status, he/she will be dismayed soon. Thus it is always necessary to remind ourselves that we are voluntarily serving God and His people. Our main aim is to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ with our actions. Our activities are just the tools. Dr. Liana, our International President, has repeatedly mentioned this point.

"The harvest is truly plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest"

(Mt. 9:37-38).
